Online Interface Mapping
The state of North Dakota and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have opened an interactive website where individuals can go online to view structures impacted by the Souris River flood.
Individuals can now go online, type in an address and the State of North Dakota website will zoom onto that particular structure showing the flood's impact on June 25, when the Souris River was near its peak.
Disaster officials realize that many homeowners still have not been allowed back into their neighborhoods to see the level of damage sustained. The satellite imagery details the extent of flood damage to specific neighborhoods, roads and homes in Minot.
Individuals can go online at http://www.nd.gov/des/ndelevationlookup/.
Mitigation specialists at the two Minot Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) can use the website when advising applicants about mitigation measures. The Minot centers are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, until further notice.
Large GeoEye Satellite maps showing the flood-impacted neighborhoods along the Souris also are available at the Minot DRCs for visitors to view.
Residents who plan to stop by a recovery center are urged to register for assistance before their visit. The registration line is open daily from 6 a.m. to midnight (CDT) until further notice. The call is free. To register with FEMA, call 1-800-621-3362 (TTY 1-800-462-7585) or go online at www.fema.gov or www.disasterassistance.gov. Individuals may also register by smart phone at m.fema.gov.
