Posted on 11/3/2011

The House yesterday passed (H.R. 1965) a bill that would raise the current 500-shareholder threshold for Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) registration for banks, bank holding companies, and savings associations to 2,000 shareholders, and also raise the deregistration threshold from 300 to 1,200 shareholders.

The House also passed a bill (H.R. 1070) to exempt companies that manage up to $50 million in public securities from registering with the SEC.
