House to Vote on Farm Bill Extension, Drought Relief Posted on 7/30/2012
The House could act as early as Wednesday on a legislative package that combines a one-year extension of the 2008 Farm Bill with $1.2 billion in drought relief for livestock, fruit and vegetable farmers, press reports said. The Senate still would have to pass the legislation before Congress leaves at the end of the week for August recess.
"It is critical that we provide certainty to our producers and address the devastating drought conditions that are affecting most of the country, and I look forward to supporting and advancing this legislation," House Agriculture Committee Chairman Frank Lucas (R-Okla.) said.
