FDIC Announces New System For Citing Exam Violations

The FDIC announced yesterday that next month it will replace the current two-level classification system for citing violations of consumer protection rules in bank examination reports with a three-level system based on how the violations affect consumers.

"The change is intended to help focus the institution's attention on the most significant issues identified during the examination and place violations that are more technical in nature in the appropriate perspective," the FDIC said.
