OCC Adds Booklet on Garnishment of Federal Benefits

Posted on 4/2/2014

The OCC yesterday added a new booklet to the Comptroller's Handbook on the garnishment of accounts containing federal benefits payments. The new booklet, which is based on an interagency rule last year, explains what financial institutions must do when they receive a garnishment order against an account holder who receives certain federal benefits payments via direct deposit.
