ABA Lauds Bankers' Support of Teach Children to Save Program

Posted on 4/5/2011

About 1,200 banks on April 12 will celebrate 15 years of the ABA Education Foundation's Teach Children to Save Day in their communities by encouraging students to become lifelong savers, Floyd Stoner, ABA EVP for congressional relations, said yesterday in a memo to all House and Senate members.

"This year the campaign is on target to have reached 5 million young people since it began in 1997, thanks to the dedication of more than 100,000 banker volunteers," Stoner explained. He emphasized that bankers have always rallied behind financial education.

"But they have increased their support in the past few years through the Million Child Challenge - a call for bankers to reach more than 1 million students with financial education in 2009 - and the launch of the Lights, Camera, Save! program - a unique video contest designed to get young people thinking creatively about saving money," Stoner said. Read the memo. Register for Teach Children to Save Day.
