Humphrey to Head CFPB Office of Older Americans

Posted on 10/20/2011

Former Minnesota Attorney General Hubert "Skip" Humphrey III has been named to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's newly established Office of Older Americans, CFPB officials said yesterday. "I am honored and excited to bring my experience in consumer protection and my work with seniors to the CFPB to help educate seniors about fair practices and how to make financial decisions that are right for them," said Humphrey, the son of the late former vice president and Democratic presidential candidate. The office, among other things, will educate seniors about savings, retirement planning and long-term care. It also will work with senior groups, law enforcement, financial institutions and government agencies to identify and prevent scams targeting seniors.
